Connecting to the Universe by Talking to the Sun
|
In his recent Viking release, "Super Life Secret Codes," author Great Sun provided a series of meditative exercises designed to help users connect to the Universe, and survive the period of tumultuous spiritual transition that he predicts will be associated with December 21, 2012, the day the Long Count Cycle of the Mayan calendar ends. In several places, the author talks about "speaking with the Sun."
When Great Sun asked me to "speak to the Sun" and thereby learn how to promote his book, I asked myself exactly how I could speak with a ball of gas emitting heat produced by continual nuclear explosions? Then I went on to ask another question, exactly what is speech. Speech, as humans know it, I concluded is the transmission of thought as symbolically coded in words that are passed along through a series of sonic vibrations. Sonic vibrations, I thought, vibrations of the atoms in the air, that, I decided is the connection between human speech and Sun speech. While the Sun may not be able to formulate abstract concepts, it's heat and energy do generate air currents on the Earth. Those air currents, I decided, are Sun speech.
The Sun is often used as an image of compassion in that it sheds its light and vitality upon all dwellers on our planet, great and small, worthy and "unworthy," rich and poor. The ability to judge and classify others into positive and negative categories is an aptitude far beneath or far above or simply far away from the Sun's relatively simple mentality, which is the logic of nuclear explosions and the generation of energy. Helios has done its job diligently, day in and day out, for more than four billion years and will continue to do so far into the foreseeable future.
Sun speech, I decided, unlike human speech does not change rapidly. Humans speak multitudes of words in a few minutes of communication. The Sun, I believe, does not. What does change, I thought, is our perception of the Sun's emanation. The Sun in its primitive simplicity inspires us to draw conclusions about life and wisdom, yet it performs its task in much the way it did four billion years ago and much the way it will 2-3 billions years hence. Due to the construction of the Earth and the Earth's atmosphere, however, the wind currents generated by the Sun are ever changing.
So what did I learn from my conversation with the Sun? I communicated with the Sun by relaxing and basking in its warmth. The give and take of heat, human warmth included, is my perception of sun speech. If I want to promote a book, I concluded, I should eminate warmth. Human warmth, of course, including emotional feelings of warmth, is a more evolved form of heat than solar energy, but the idea is the same; people and creatures appreciate life giving warmth and energy in all forms.
Then I came up with yet one more concept. I couldn't help contemplating sunlight. When the sun rises in the morning, it illuminates all that was dark just a few minutes earlier. We recognize the presence of the Sun not only by its own glow, but by the light reflected off the myriads of objects illumined by its rays. People are attracted to light. The presence of light arouses humans and produces activity and productivity. So I decided that another way to promote the author's book is to share its beautiful visual imagery. In this case, there are not any illustrations in the book, however, the company made a number of strikingly attractive videos to introduce the book's message so I decided I would post them in lots of video sharing sites.
Light and warmth, I concluded, are certainly two integral forms of solar communication.
