Husky Biting - Tips To Handle The Behavior

Is your Husky biting at your hands, clothes, ankles, and basically everything else? If that's the case, then you'll want to read this article. Specifically, we'll cover why Huskies bite, handling biting in young puppies, and handling biting in older puppies. This information will assist in curbing your Husky's obnoxious behavior.

Most dogs only have one reason to bite. They bite so as to seek out dominance within the pack. Despite the fact that you are human, your Husky will still treat you like a member of his pack. He is essentially attempting to seek submission when he bites you or other family members. A Husky that's allowed to dominate the household can quickly and easily become a huge problem when he reaches maturity.

Even in young puppies, you have to discourage Husky biting. There will inevitably be situations during which your young pup nips or mouths at you. Because many owners may think this behavior is cute while their Huskies are young puppies, they fail to recognize the potential danger that it can escalate to when the dog reaches maturity. No matter how cute this behavior may be when dogs are puppies, it must be discouraged regardless as permitting it will lead your Husky to think that he's leader of the pack. It's easiest to stop Husky biting in young puppies, but it can still be handled in older puppies.

This behavior becomes obnoxious and no longer cute in older puppies. Older puppies will continue to seek submission through play-biting. Show dominance so that he respects you as the alpha. Use humane methods of showing dominance, such as eating before him, entering doorways before him, and making him move out of the way instead of going around him. Husky biting can be stopped, regardless of your puppy's age.

Because you don't want the problem to escalate as your puppy gets older, stopping his biting behavior is crucial, no matter what his age. It is much easier to prevent biting in puppies than it is to correct potentially dangerous biting in adults. Apply the principles in this article to stop your Husky's biting before it becomes a real problem.
