Keeping Your Motor Trade Protected

However, in one way, buying and selling cars is no different from any other kind of business. It may be a very profitable area to work in, but it still has its downfalls to consider as well. If you are a motor trader then your stock is worth a great deal of money and it is vital to keep it well protected at all times. This is where insurance comes into the picture and it really can prove to be invaluable.

There are plenty of accidents just waiting to happen and our roads are a great place to find them! Even when you are just taking a potential customer out for a short test drive, disaster can easily strike. If you are unfortunate enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time then it can end up costing you a very large amount of money.

Not every driver out there is careful one and meeting one of these on your travels (literally) can be a costly encounter indeed! And you can bet your bottom dollar that you will be in one of your more valuable cars at the time... Fortunately, one of the key parts of a motor trade insurance policy is something called ‘Demonstration Cover’. And, as the name would suggest, this will protect you against the misjudgement of any ‘not as careful as they should be’ drivers whilst you are taking out a vehicle for a demo.

But that is only one scenario to consider! What about if something were to happen to your car lot? Some motor trade policies will offer a greater degree of protection to your actual property than others and it is important to look into this. It may even be necessary to take out extra insurance to be certain you are properly covered. However, this will often not be as expensive as it sounds, especially if you purchase it from the same insurer; they may even offer it to you as an ‘add-on’ to your motor trade policy.

And there are many other elements to this type of insurance which will offer you even greater protection. Road Risk Cover, Additional Business Use and Split Indemnity are all common features of a motor trade policy. Some companies will include all these as standard whilst others will give you the option of adding them to your basic cover. Obviously quotes are bound to differ from one insurer to another and it is always worth shopping around. However, the cost of your annual premium is not the most important issue! You want to give your cars the best possible protection; so you need to be looking for a policy which gives you a maximum amount of cover. And there are many other elements to this type of insurance which will offer you even greater protection.
