Why your body needs handmade soap - Your skin will thank you!

One of the most abnormal mistakes health cognizant people make is taking care of only their internal needs. A healthy diet with lots of natural fruits and vegetables and whole grains is important, but what about your external self? Skin is your greatest organ and is vital in guarding you from all the harmful variables in the world around us. It is a key part in the process of absorption and removal between you and your environment by selectively letting the ‘good’ in and keeping the ‘bad’ out. By ‘good’ we’re talking vitamins, minerals and awesome old H2O. But our skin also wards off toxins, parasites, and free radicals. It is your first line of defense in an otherwise hostile environment. Humans can’t survive without skin. So it’s absolutely vital to care for it and make sure your skin can do its job to the best of its ability. So what is this common mistake people make? It’s using commercial cleansers and detergents and chemicals on their bodies which don’t benefit their skin and instead have an adverse effect.

Here’s what typically happens:

You use a commercial soap (a detergent to be exact), it strips off all your organic oils, saps the moisture from your skin, and leaves a film on your epidermis to maintain the process of dry itchiness. When your skin is dry and peeling it is more susceptible to penetration by foreign substances. So then what do you do? Purchase some balm to counteract the dryness, only this balm often has a petroleum base, and oils which your skin can’t readily absorb so you end up feeling greasy. What’s the resolution?

Real soap made with organic ingredients! Nature is full of its own great cleansers, good for you oils, and healthy ingredients intended to bring your natural body back to its natural state of balance. A real soap is made with organic oils combined with an alkali in a method called soponification. (Don’t worry, there is not alkali left after the process). What you’re left with is a solvent which works with your body’s chemistry rather than against it. It doesn’t strip the moisture from your skin but rather replenishes it, in addition to making you feel clean. Remove the dirt, leave the moisture! So instead of reaching for that commercial detergent bar, grab a chunk of natural body loving real soap with an good intoxicating fragrance and lather up! Don’t ignore your skin any longer.
