The film won the 1986 Australian Film Institute award for Best Film; a flying Melbourne tram was also a feature of the 2006 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony which was very strange as you are not likely to see a tram fly past your Melbourne Apartment unless it is running late or a tram with no more space to accommodate passengers therefore not likely to stop at the designated tram stop which happened frequently during peak travel time.
