Obesity?


Obesity can be defined as excess amount of body fats. Excess weight of bone, muscles , fat and water in the body is Overweight. Persons which are over weighted are at high health risk than other persons . They are more prone to health related diseases like diabetes, heart diseases and few types of cancers etc.
Women are more over weighted than men. In men it accumulates around belly giving them an apple shape. In women usually the fat accumulates around hips giving them a pear shape. The obesity related problems start when fat accumulates around waist.
Causes of Obesity
When a person burns less calories than he consumes then these excess amount of calories get stored in the form of fat causing over weight or obesity problems.
Genetic Causes
Obesity can be caused genetically. Most of the times obesity tends to run in families. The diet and lifestyle habits which are practiced in family also contribute to obesity. If parents are fat then their children also show a tendency to get fatty.
Environmental Effect
Eating habits of a person and physical activities level also contribute for gaining more and more fats. When a person eats food containing more calories and has a sitting work only then the calories consumed are more than calories burnt. The amount of calories which remain unburnt are stored as fats.
Health Conditions
Various health conditions like hypothyroidism, depression and certain neurological problems lead to overeating which in turn leads to obesity problem.

Medicines
Medicines like antidepressants and steroids may cause weight gain which leads to obesity.

The health risks because of obesity are:
High Blood pressure.
Ddiabetes
Heart disease.
Gall stones
Stroke
Few types of Cancers
Irregular menstruation in women
Liver diseases
Infertility

Tips to reduce Obesity
With the help of your physician determine how much weight has to be reduced.
Try to set several short term realistic goals .
Try to make some gradual changes in your diet and also in other things which leads to obesity..
Eating less and being more active in physical activities like exercises etc. help in losing weight. You will lose weight when you burn more and more calories than the calories you consume.
Stay motivated and determined to lose your weight.
Slow and steady wins the race. Slow weight loss is the most effective and safest.
For the satisfaction of basic nutritional needs try to take a variety of foods every day. Choose from each of the five food groups milk, meat, fruit, vegetable and cereals. Balanced food plans encourage making wise choices about everyday food choices. This diet will keep you away from various health problems and from obesity also.
Try to evaluate your eating pattern from one week to another and also try to avoid foods high in fats and sugar.

Selection of Physical Activity
It is also necessary to choose a better physical activity which suits your body the best. Determine the type of physical activity like running, swimming, walking etc that suits your life style and also your body.
For permanent weight loss, exercises like walking, jogging or swimming, are the key factors. Also these exercises improve your health conditions.
Try to follow some few simple ways to burn calories effectively. Like after dinner walk, using stairs instead of escalators or elevators, parking the car farther away to have a longer walk etc.
So try to follow these guidelines and be away from various health problems.
