Ears Clipping For Pitbull

To clip your pitbull's ears, you should be very prepared. You must primarily be absolutely sure of your pet's age is ok for ear clipping. It is a practice that is very frowned upon these days as it inflicts a certain degree of pain to your pitbull. There are cases where it is referred to as mutilation.
Does the question of why you clip your pitbull's ears ever dawn to you? Does the reason involve him being in a dog show competition? If yes, then that is understandable, despite still frowned upon. However, if you just want to do it for appearance sake, then I advice you to drop the idea. An open wound at the ears heightens the risk of infection.
Put some nice clothes on them, take them for an afternoon for grooming, that also makes them look good! Perhaps add some accessories on their clothes? For sure they are going to pour more love from their hearts for you.
Dogs only have a few things to look forward to in their lives and ear rubbing is one of them. Clipping their ears will deprive them of that joy. Subjecting them through the pain of having their ears clipped and wounded is enough reason for them not desiring anyone to touch their ears ever again! Is it really worth it for you to traumatize your pet and let this negative experience ruin your relationship with it? The psychological and emotional pain will linger with them till the very day of their death!
If a branch fell on your car when you parked at it, you would remember to avoid the incident and avoid parking below trees. Fear doesn't just go sometimes. Even if you pay a visit to the shrink, it doesn't magically make your fear disappear like that! What makes it worse is that there are no shrink for dogs. It is akin to praying for a miracle.
If for some reason you are forced to clip the ears of your pitbull, then for goodness sake, wait for it to grow to the right age first! You are endangering the life of your pitbull by clipping its ears when it is too young or too old for it. Doing it by yourself is the worst idea one could ever come up with as you are most likely to make a mistake. Potentially it can get messy and your pitbull might just end up dead faster than you want it to. Before you think of doing anything, I strongly urge you to check your facts with a vet. Get professional help! Always check with them, what is the best age for you to clip your pitbull's ears. Getting the age wrong will most likely leave you with an unwanted incident. |
