Birthday Cakes 101

Anyone from one to two hundred and one years of age can have a birthday cake on the special day that celebrates the time when they were born into the world. When it comes to planning out somebody's birthday cake, one should bear in mind some basic details and here they are:

The Number of People who will be eating some of the cake. Make sure that each guest can have at least one slice of the cake. Those who choose to not have a piece can have their share eaten by someone who wants a little more than one slice so everybody is happy. You can settle the budget with regard to this detail. Of course, if you do not wish for the cake to be a part of everyone's diet for the day and plan to have the cake as a decoration or a centerpiece instead then simply disregard this. It can be recommended that if you wish to use the cake as a decorative piece then use make most of the parts out of Styrofoam instead in order to make it seem big.

The Shape of the Cake. You can choose a shape that is dependent on your theme and the birthday celebrant's favorite shape. This will also affect the serving portions of the guests.

Rectangular shaped birthday cakes are recommended for a big party since they can provide each guest with an approximately equal slice of the cake. The only battle from it would be who will get the corner cakes which have half of the sides covered in icing, while the slices that came out of the middle part of the cake only have icing on the top . This situation , to some people, seems to be unfair.

A square shaped birthday cake is good for a relatively smaller party and can provide for about the same kind of situation as the rectangular one. Of course, it can also serve a larger party but the square has to be huge and can sometimes be more tricky to transport. A triangular shaped birthday cake sounds positively interesting since it is rarely an option. However, it can work well as part of an interesting superhero theme.

The round shape is quite a common option when it comes to birthday cakes. There are a multitude of movies that depict the mother coming into the dining room with the lights off and singing happy birthday together with the guests, while carrying a decorated round birthday cake bedecked with candles and other stuff. A classic choice, if you wish.

The Flavor and the Filling of the Birthday Cake. Children will consume almost anything as long as it is made out of classic children favorites such as chocolate or vanilla. Favorite fillings are jam or more chocolate and vanilla. Ask your kid about it.

The Cake's Colors. Obviously the cake should match the theme of the party if it does have a very strict theme like Superman or Barbie. Otherwise choose the birthday celebrant's favorite colors. Just steer clear of unappetizing colors such as black and dark green.
