Husky Aggression - Learn How To Prevent And Handle It

If you would like to learn the best way to deal with a Husky aggression problem or simply wish to prevent it, then the information in this article will be of interest. We will discuss the reason for aggression, how to prevent aggression and how to reduce it. After reading this article, you should be able to prevent and handle Husky aggression.

In general, dogs will exhibit aggression for one simple reason. If a dog is unsure of his position in the pack, he may exhibit aggressive behavior in an attempt to be dominant. Dogs that know their place within the pack are much happier than dogs that do not. In order to show your Husky his place within the hierarchy, you have to show him that you're alpha. Only when you're recognized as leader within the household, should you make an effort to stop aggression.

If you start training your Husky as a puppy, Husky aggression can be prevented. Experts agree that the most crucial time for training your puppy is before the age of six months. Puppies will most definitely nip or bite and have to be trained that it's unacceptable. Your Husky will be much less likely to be aggressive when he gets older if you teach him what type of behavior is unacceptable as a puppy. Early behavior modification is an essential part of puppy training for your Husky.

There are a few steps you can take to reduce aggression in an already aggressive Husky. First you have to identify the trigger for the aggression (what's making him aggressive), in addition to how far away he can be from it before he starts to get aggressive. While staying right outside of this boundary, reward or praise him for being calm. What you want to work on is slowly moving closer to the trigger and praising him if he remains calm. Positive reinforcement is an effective way to reduce aggression in Huskies.

Husky aggression is exhibited when your dog does not know his place in the pack. The key to reducing aggression is to show alpha leadership. Most importantly, early training can prevent it. A couple of simple steps can be taken to reduce aggression in already aggressive Huskies. Apply these concepts to handle your Husky aggression problem.
