Venetian Blinds

Venetian blinds have horizontal overlapping slats that effectively control the amount of light that is let into a room through the window. When the slats are closed almost no light comes into the room and when they are fully open plenty of light will flood in. You can also pull the blinds up to open the windows right up to light. Venetian blinds are versatile window dressings and provide a clean, minimalist look that will suit a wide range of contemporary homes. Venetian blinds are also ideal for window spaces that require additional privacy as the slats can be angled to let light in, whilst still blocking the interior of the room from passers-by.

Venetian blinds are robust, easy to care for and provide a lot of light control. For this reason they are commonly used in offices. You can also now buy a stylish range of Venetian blinds in all different colours and materials which are ideal for the home.

Types of Venetian Blinds

Venetian blinds can be made out of many different materials. The four most common types of Venetian blind are:

* Real Wood Blinds – until a few years ago real wood Venetian blinds were very expensive and not so widely available. However these days the costs of real wood Venetian blinds are more reasonable and these types of blinds are becoming more popular. These are still the most expensive types of Venetian blinds because in general they are made as bespoke window dressings. However they do provide a durable, long lasting option for your window that can offer a natural, elegant look. Wooden Venetian blinds are typically made from cedar or pine.
* Lightweight Aluminium Blinds – aluminium Venetian blinds are a popular choice as they can be manufactured to any size and provide effective light control. They are much more affordable than many other window treatments and they are easy to use. Aluminium Venetian blinds are also available in a wide range of colours including white, silver and bronze. One problem with aluminium Venetian blinds are the slats can get bent out of shape if they are not handled carefully. This can make them difficult to pull up and close properly. Also because they are lightweight they can blow about in a draft if the window is open and this can damage them.
* PVC Blinds – PVC Venetian blinds are another popular choice as they are affordable, long lasting and easy to keep clean. These are also lightweight and easy to use and install. PVC blinds make a practical choice for both domestic and business spaces.

Venetian blinds can help you to create a contemporary, modern look in your home. They offer privacy and light control and are available in a range of different materials, colours and sizes.
