Avoid the conversion-killing mistake of trying to press your readers with hard selling or anything that remotely appears to be a hard sell. If there's anything that people hate it is being "sold to." Your only job is to do non-pressure preselling for the product you're promoting and nothing else. You'll find that the hard sell approach simply turns them off, and most people online have seen enough of it that they easily recognize it. That's it... you engage in preselling while the product developer's sales letter will try to close the sale. Many affiliate marketers assume that by being honest and transparent, they'll lose on sales. In actuality the sales would increase because of your honesty. It's very similar to word-of-mouth advertising when one person loves a product and tells a friend about it. One thing to keep in your mind is that your reader wants help making a decision, and if you do that then you'll help enough people to decide to buy from you.

Many newer marketers have difficulty with some of the finer points of choosing an effective domain name. Your website will be about a primary keyword or phrase, so you need to consider that plus the product you're promoting. Don't settle for free web hosts that give you a sub-domain name. Buy your own domain name that includes the primary keyword phrase you'll be optimizing your site for.

Whenever possible use real customer testimonials because they have a powerful impact on your potential customers. Testimonials tend to create a trust factor and will make your prospects feel more comfortable when buying the product. The best place to get them is from the sales page for the product you're marketing. One powerful and effective tactic is to take the testimonial text and pictures and then make a video from it. Instead of just posting plain text testimonials you can use audio/video testimonials that you can record from the experts or even the customers. Video will make your site more attention grabbing and interesting, and that will only help your cause, too.

Work and dedication is needed to be successful, but affiliate marketing doesn't require a PhD to be learned and mastered. And don't think you cannot make tons of money, still, because you can.
