The Best Ways to Travel Easier with a Disability

Travelling with a disability is all about planning. Whether you are a person with a handicap, have mobility limitations or are a senior, getting from A to B is not always easy. However being informed on the travel resources before you plan your journey can take away the stress and problems faced, whether this be a holiday or tour, short-term or long-term journey.

The first thing to do is to plan in advance, making sure you have time to arrange anything by making a list. For instance do you need to see the doctor for all the correct medications and supplements you may need whilst your away. If you have mobility issues, and have a Mobility Electric Wheelchairs, make sure the maintenance is upto the date and the chair is in good working order.

The best way to avoid any issues is to put your travel arrangements in the hands of a travel agency who have specialized knowledge of helping people with a disability. This will save lots of phone calls and stress, as they will have all the advice and help needed to match your needs. This agency, can be a real blessing in disguise as they have a huge resource of tips for your journey and a large range of services for the disabled traveller.

For Instance:-

• Making sure the accommodation you stay in is wheelchair friendly

• That A wheelchair is available at the Airport, A lift-equipped van or other mobility vehicle.

• Accessible transportation at your destination

• Travel Insurance

The travel agency may also be able to arrange a carer for your journey, should you need one. The will take care of hiring a companion for your journey who would be trained up to meet any requirements you may have.

On one final note, perhaps the best advice, is to make sure that any critical medical information, such as medical history cards, insurance certificates, and the your own doctor’s phone number. This will ensure you have an enjoyable and trouble free holiday.
