Pets and Treats

Everyone enjoys treats every now and again, whether you are human or animal. However, whilst the human body can usually cope very well with a wide variety of foods and treats, our dogs and cats are not so fortunate. Much of the food we eat simply isn’t suitable for our pets and can even make them ill, which is why a specially formulated pet diet is the best thing for your dog or cat.

It can be very tempting to give into your dog’s pleading eyes and treat them with food from your plate, but generally, this is not the best way to promote optimum dog nutrition. Instead, a pet diet which has been scientifically researched and tested to include everything your dog needs is the best way of helping your best friend to stay healthy – and this goes for treats too. Rather than treating your dog from your plate or leftovers, a much better idea is to show him you care with treats developed to give a good balance of nutrients and no harmful additives – to complement rather than work against a good pet diet.

Treats as a reward

Although we all like to treat our dogs, and here at Hills, we offer a great range of healthy and tasty treats. Have a look at our new Snacks and Treats range launched across Europe recently. Over-treating can of course cause another set of problems so make sure you get the right treat and right balance. You need to be careful that you don’t treat your dog too often, as this can contribute to obesity. A good way to treat your dog is to use our Hills dog treats as a reward when training your canine pal. Not only do you get to give your dog treats, you can also teach him new things too. For the best balance of good dog nutrition, we recommend that you try Hills Snacks as a reward for your dog.
