Exam Results – How To Cope Before And After You Get Your Results

When the time for exam results arrives how do you cope?

We all know that scared feeling you get just before exam results
day, the classic signs of battling to sleep, fretting about the
future and being terrified of letting people down, but who says those few
examined hours have to govern your future?

Should things not go to plan there are many paths you can go down.
If you still want to go to University you can simply go through clearing, take
a gap year and re-take or see if that particular University will accept you on a
foundation or different course.

But whatever happens remember all is not lost.

Clearing means that you could perhaps still go to your First Choice
University, only to do a different course. Or maybe you will choose to
go to a different University, either way you should look upon this as
an opportunity rather than a failure.

It is very important also at this time to check your actual marks from each
module as firstly mistakes can be made, but also if you are very close to
getting your grade requirements, as in a few UMS off then you may still be
accepted into your first choice. In this case ring their admissions office
immediately, and although it will be busy- keep trying.

If you have your heart set on a specific place though you may want to
consider taking a Gap Year and gaining experience in travel, work and
of course the opportunity to do January re-takes if necessary. Even if
you were to take a Gap Year and merely spend it working in the pub
down the road then you have enhanced your inter-personal skills, have
had the chance to gain more responsibility as well as enhancing your
CV.

University isn’t for everyone though, so if your exam results have
knocked you off a particular training programme or scheme, just
remember that the world is a big place and the opportunities actually
are endless! You are only 18, no-one has to decide what they want from
their life and career before it has even started!

So explore every possible avenue, for a snap-shot of endless amounts
of careers look at pods4jobs.com it is a new careers website that
