Take a break to Oslo and be indulged by some of the world’s finest architecture

Travelling abroad shouldn’t always be about the search for nicer weather. Thanks to man’s instinctive ability to progress forward the world plays host to some incredible feats. Cathedrals, museums and monuments, hold within them values from a time past by and their existence should be appreciated to the fullest possible level. A vacation that involves the experience of some of mans wonders does so much more for our minds than just a weekend at the beach. Oslo is renowned for its historical culture and so makes a fantastic city to visit if you want to enrich your mind.

Oslo isn’t all history though. For those of you who still want to escape the depressing climate of your home nation the capital of Norway will not disappoint. Its climate is normally fairly temperate, with frequent hot spells in the summer that often lead to heat waves. If a member of your party is more sport inclined, the city prides itself on a successful skiing history having hosted official winter events on many occasions. The ski slopes in Oslo are some of the best in the world and will be sure to leave the rider exhilarated.

Yet despite these points Oslo will always be most attractive for its architectural achievements that offer an extensive list of things to see and do. The Opera House is an award winning piece of modern architecture. Its glacier shaped design gives the impression of a floating building as it lays itself by the inlet Bjørvika. The Royal Palace will also astound you upon sight but this time thanks to its historical background. A guided tour will reveal to you the secrets and past of Oslo’s main avenue as the Palace plays a significant part in Norway’s history.

The city is surrounded by a large forest called Oslomarka. This forest provides recreation for many of Oslo’s citizens and it can do the same for you. Unique for a capital, the forest swarms around the outside of the city offering incredible walks and bike rides. Take some time out from your historical trails and relax your mind with a peaceful ramble around the woods.

No matter your budget Oslo has a wide-range of accommodations to suit the needs of your party. If you don’t want to empty your pocket too much the Thon Hotel Munch can provide a comfortable sleeping solution for your break. It is a hotel that prides itself on being close to public transport, the main street, and a whole range of museums and theatres. With a larger budget you can attain a room based deep into the centre of the city, offering you a luxurious service and incredible views.

For a small city Oslo has an incredibly large amount of things to do. With multiple parks, museums, and cathedrals you will be truly spoilt for choice on your break. Perfect weather, incredible architecture, and a wealth of culture make’s Oslo an incredible holiday destination.
