Orlando – There’s more than just Disney
|
When you think of Orlando, the first thing you probably think of is Disney World, but there’s a myriad of other activities, for families and couples in Orlando. Here is a breakdown of some of the best places to visit.
Seaworld
Seaworld is an amazing place to visit – it’s designed around sharing and enjoying the wonders of the sea, and while it’s an incredible place to take children, it’s well worth the visit whether you’re single, or a family.
From performances from animals, including Shamu and friends, to dancing, singing and exhibits to explore, there’s plenty to do – and you don’t need to make a day of it – they offer ‘after dark’ tickets (after 3pm) which means you can do other things in the morning such as shopping and then come and explore. The shows run throughout the day, so you’re not missing anything that doesn’t repeat. Highly recommended is the stunt and tricks show that they do with the dolphins and whales – it’s amazing (and usually very wet if you’re sitting near the front!)
Universal studios
Universal studios is a heady mix of rides and attractions based around classic and newer movies – recently, the Harry Potter rides opened, and that area comes highly recommended. You can enjoy several dozen other rides based around your favourite shows and movies. Universal studios also boasts some of the best rides in the area, outside Disney, which means if you’re a rollercoaster buff, you should highly consider going. You’ll find that it’s designed around all ages, so you can enjoy whether you’re a young family or a couple without children, there’s something for everyone.
Tourist heaven
Orlando is a tourist heaven – lots of things to do, even if you don’t go to Disney World – some of the suggestions are shopping and touring the area and investigating the museums nearby, go carting and more. If you’re very active, you can go surfing or water skiing in the area, or out on boars. There are several water parks to enjoy too, where you can relax by the poolside, or enjoy lots of flumes and fun in the sun.
And when all’s said and done, Disney is great!
If you’re a rollercoaster fan, Disney World really is worth it – there’s dozens of places that you can visit, but you SHOULD try Disney Land for a couple of days. Epcot centre is great, as are the three other main districts. You’ll find you need to spend at least a week to explore the whole place, and you’ll still not manage to see everything. If you have to choose one area, then do, and stick to it, spending the day trying as much as you can. Disney World is obviously very popular, and there are no quiet days, so you’ll find it’s always crowded and has an atmosphere that can’t be beat. |
