Enjoy a stay at Zurich hotels in this sparkling European city.

Set on the tip of Lake Zurich, this bustling international city of Zurich is right in the heart of Switzerland. It is justifiably famous for being one of the largest and most important financial centres in the world. Many of the world’s banking giants have their headquarters here, and because of the attractive low tax rate you will also find that many companies have set up their research and development centres in or near the city of Zurich. Consequently Zurich hotels are well established to deal with the needs of their international and successful clientele. It is the largest city in Switzerland and so is extremely easy to access by air. Zurich airport is the busiest airport in Switzerland but it is still an extremely efficient airport with excellent train connections and bus lines. About one and a half hours away is Basel airport which is more popular with the main tourist airlines and also has a good train connection to the city centre.

If you have chosen Zurich hotels for pleasure instead of business, you will find that there is a lot to do in Zurich. Most of the tourist areas are near the centre, beside the Limmat River. They are convenient for the railway station. Here you can visit the picturesque churches and old houses set in the old part of the town. The most important church is probably the Grossmunster but also worth a look is the Fraumunster. This is an old Gothic style church notable for its window paintings, which are by the pioneer of modernism, Marc Chagall. If you are interested in Art, in particular modern Art, the Zurich Museum of Art has a fine collection including Munch and Picasso which is believed to be one of the best in the world. For a more traditional museum experience you could visit the Landesmuseum which is devoted to the history of Switzerland. A very different museum is the Jacob’s Coffee museum. If you like coffee, this museum is a must see.

Eating and drinking in Zurich should be a leisurely past time, enjoyed as you watch the world go by. You can do this from one of the many coffee shops which are so common in this lovely European city and enjoy a glass of wine or some of the silky smooth chocolate which Switzerland is famous for. For an upmarket experience, go to the famous Kronenhalle where the jet set of Switzerland eat and drink. You will find yourself surrounded by original artwork from once unknown artists, who were forced to pay for their meals in paintings. Some people choose to dine in the many excellent Zurich hotels and afterwards go out to one of the many excellent bars and clubs for some local beer, or a glass of Swiss white or red wine. There is an excellent selection of clubs right in the centre of Zurich and many of them host regular parties.
