Puppy Vaccination

Vaccinations play an important part in your puppy's health care plan. Most experts are of the view that basic immunization helps a puppy from getting sick and avoid diseases. This is the reason that dogs and puppies are getting more vaccinations than ever before. Pet sitters and dog boarding, for example, dog boarding Snohomish and dog boarding Bellevue, also prefer regular and multiple vaccinations as they can prevent severe consequences being developed.

Why Vaccinate

Vaccinations are done to prevent your puppies from developing diseases and becoming more prone to various illnesses. When a puppy is born, the immune systems are not fully developed. As a result, they cannot fight with various illnesses even though the nursing mothers provide them with antibody rich milk. This milk provides the puppies with temporary immunity, lasting not more than 20 weeks. Therefore, a puppy needs to have proper vaccination and check-ups to prevent diseases.

Benefits

Vaccines are made to prevent future diseases and infections. They should be given on a regular basis, and provided with core vaccinations, which provide protection against most dangerous and widespread diseases. Although they may cry while receiving vaccination, their health is as important to your dog as your child's health for you. Once your puppy is vaccinated, the puppy's immune system will recognize the symptoms of disease in its body and create an obstacle (or a more technical term, antibodies) to fight it off with. However, the barrier only may last not more than a month, and this is the reason regular vaccinations are recommended.

Regular vaccinations can prevent your puppy from diseases like Canine Distemper, Rabies and Corona virus, which are common diseases that top the vaccination list. It is advised, however, to have some knowledge of the disease that is being treated through vaccination, to avoid any mishaps and problems in the future. For example, rabies is a common disease, and can affect human beings through a bite or saliva. If not properly taken care of, diseases can affect the intestinal system as well as cause erratic behavior on the onset of diseases.

Some risks involved

A lot of different vaccines can lead to unusual behavior and outweigh the benefits of vaccination. Some experts advise that vaccines should not be given more than three or four times a week. On the other hand, distemper, the vaccine should be given once or twice a month. It is preferred to take blood samples prior to the vaccination to ensure that the puppy has enough antibodies in its body. Other relatively uncommon risks include pain and soreness at the place where it was injected. Illnesses such as blood disorders, skin issues or neuron problems may also arise.

Despite side effects, it is a fact that benefits overshadow the risks. Vaccinations are equally important to a puppy as it they are to your health and it is the responsibility of the dog owner to keep regular check-ups and keep the puppy's health at its best. For the happiness and safety it can provide to your family, it is worth considering your dog's health and fitness.
