Byron Bay is an area that is well known for tourists to visit and spend time at. There are plenty of things to do and places to see which will suit everyone's tastes no matter what their personality is like. It is the most eastern point in Australia. The town is rather small and has a population of just under 5,000 people.
One of the biggest things to do is to visit the beaches which have white sand and amazingly colored turquoise water. The main beach actually has a patrol team which makes it a great place for children along with Watego's beach. It's a great place to picnic as well since there are bathroom accommodations. In 1901 the Cape Byron lighthouse was built which makes it over 100 years old. It is on a cliff that is a total of 94 meters tall and gives nearby ships alerts about the coast. Anyone who visits Byron Bay should definitely make a trip over to see it. The views that can be seen from it are breath taking along with chances to see not only turtles but whales, dolphins, and sometimes the wallabies as well. The sun rise is absolutely stunning to see over the waters of the Pacific Ocean. The sunset is just as majestic as it sets with the mountains in the background.
Individuals who are appreciative of the arts will want to make a trip over to the Zakay Glass Creations Gallery and Studio which is where Asaf Zakay makes glass sculptures in 3D and uses geometric principles to do so. The gallery is entirely focused on the geometric principles which can be used in art. They are highly prized as being collectibles.
Attractions aren't the only appeal in Byron Bay though because there are numerous events held here for the locals and tourists as well. Some of these include the music festivals such as the East Coast Blues & Roots along with a writers festival called Splendour in the Grass. It is also a very popular location for pagan gatherings with a rather large punk population for the music scene.
There are many opportunities to try different types of food in Byron Bay as well no matter where you go due to the large number of restaurants in the area. Asian food can be found at Asia Joe's which is a popular destination for healthy eaters and individuals who have specific food requirements such as vegan or being gluten-free. You can dine indoors or outside at the Byron Beach Cafe which serves both breakfast and lunch to visitors. It is beach front and also is a great location for weddings and other large events in Byron Bay. |
