Roller Alignment Made So Easy

Misaligned rollers are the main reason to slow down the production and finishing of paper, polymer film, fabric or metal foil. The roller is a device which attempts to provide alignment such that one longitudinal axis is parallel to another for adjacent cylindrical rollers. The rollers need to be aligned in such a manner that the exterior surfaces are tangential to a common plane. This helps in reducing the bending, twisting and wrinkling of the thin film like media from one roller to another. Having explained how the roller works and its purpose it is very clear that the Roller alignment is one very important factor, therefore earlier there would be a constant visual inspection while the Rollers would roll to check for any misalignment happening during the production.

Earlier the Roller alignment was adjusted by the operator by adding or removing the metal shims onto which the roller rotates and this would be done commonly using the mechanical measurements such as calipers or line of sight indicators. The alignment was achieved but it was a painstaking process of trial and error. This also meant a significant amount of paper, polymer film, or metal foil would go as scrap until proper Roller alignment is achieved.

Roller alignment has now taken a new method that is more efficient and easier it is called the laser Roller alignment system. Through this new technology one can quickly and accurately measure the parallelism of the Roller. This technology with the help of computer can quickly get the data collected through the laser device onto the computer and makes it easier to complete the task of Roller alignment within no time and no trial and error and avoiding scrap.

Roller alignment has never been easier before. With the new invention of the laser technology many industries have benefited in improving their production and minimizing the losses due to scrap. This technology has saved on the man power cost also which in turn and improved the profits of the company. Another advantage that can be counted above all the other is there is energy cost reduction and maintenance cost reduction.
