Walking the Walk: The Key to Modelling Access

There are various types of modelling jobs, and if someone wants to be a model then they need to be sure of which road they wish to take. Many people will believe they have what it takes to make it, and they may do but they may be aiming for the wrong type of modelling industry. There are various types of modelling, such as runway modelling, catalogue modelling, fashion print modelling and glamour modelling.

A runway model is responsible for executing the designer’s clothes and giving them life. Most runway models tend to be slim, tall and able to walk in the clothes with ease. Their look has to be very unique and their catwalk strut has to be perfect and distinctive. A catalogue model is generally hired to target the audience desired for the catalogue, and they usually have a beautiful face, slim frame, have a healthy look and be relatively tall in order for the clothes to fit well. However, there is no specific look for a catalogue model as requirements can vary depending on the agency or company hiring the model.

Fashion print models are generally used for designer print photo’s and are responsible for complementing outfits, jewellery or other fashion and beauty products. Advertising is usually designed for a marketing campaign and can make or break a designer’s range.

Glamour models are responsible for providing the most risqué looks, as they are required to pose topless, usually for men’s magazines. To be a glamour model you are required to wear limited clothing and may be required to pose in compromising positions. Unlike other modelling requirements, curves are encouraged and a slender toned body is essential. Height is also immaterial, so is a great alternative for the small and curvy frame. Many models often seek the help of a model advice service, who when registering can offer advice, provide a gallery of other aspiring models, and help build a portfolio to show to model agencies.
