How to Choose the Right Holiday Destination

Accommodation isn't an issue either as there are literally thousands of bed and breakfasts, hotels and holiday cottages UK. The only problem that we will have is deciding on which area to visit.
And the sheer gravity of this decision should never be underestimated! If a location turns out to have very little to offer, then it will result in a pretty naff holiday all round! So why not conduct a bit of research before settling on a definite destination? It could make all the difference to the enjoyment factor of your much-anticipated break. After all, do you want it to be a super-duper splendiferous time or a total and utter washout?
Here are 3 cunning ways of ensuring that the holiday you book is in the right location –
Take a Walk on the Virtual Side!
Okay, so you have narrowed things down a little and there are one or two places that you particularly like the sound of. But how do you know they won't turn out to be a complete disappointment when you actually arrive? After all, people are always 'bigging-up' places that they want you to visit, especially on the Net!
So why not check out these areas at street level on Google Maps? It's amazing how much you can find out simply by 'walking around' for a little while! Going off on a 'virtual tour' can give you a real sense of what a place is actually like.
Read all About it!
We all know about reading people’s reviews of different TVs, books or toasters; but why not read through what other people have to say about your intended holiday cottages? There are several important questions to find answers for –
What is the choice of accommodation like in the area?
Are there plenty of things to see and do?
Is there a shop within walking distance of where you are planning to stay?
And how do the local pubs and restaurants fare?
It's also worth looking for some general info on sites such as Wiki. Having a little knowledge about the area you are staying in can often be very useful indeed!
Don't be Afraid to Ask!
Have any of your friends or relatives ever visited this location in the past?
Mention your plans to a few different people and see what type of reaction you get. We are hoping for something along the lines of, 'That place totally rocks!' rather than, 'Urk! You don't want to go there, it’s minging!'.
If someone you know has been on holiday in this area, they can tell you plenty of useful stuff. Perhaps they will be able to recommend a particular restaurant. or tell you about a certain one to avoid!
