Select favours that uniquely reflect your personal sense of style and will create a lasting impression with your guests. Gifts that your guests can actually use are always appreciated. Some couples provide cultural favours that reflect their heritage while others choose gifts that will bring a smile and highlight their sense of fun. Wedding favours are small gifts given as a token of appreciation or gratitude to the guests from the bride and the groom during a wedding ceremony or a wedding reception. The tradition of distributing wedding favours is a very old one.
Today, gifts to guests are commonly known as wedding favours and are shared in cultures worldwide. Wedding favours have become a part of wedding reception planning, especially in the United States and Canada. Wedding favours are diverse and usually complement the theme or season of the event. Classic favours can range from the classic sugared almonds or individual chocolates to candles and scented soaps. Modern gift trends include: CDs with the favorite music of the bride and groom, shot glasses filled with colored candy or silver picture frames with a photo of the couple. Gifts may also be personalized with the couple's names, initials or wedding date.

There are many types of wedding favours like: beach wedding favours, garden wedding favours, daisy wedding favours and Asian wedding favours. Some favor ideas include personalized pens, trinket boxes, goblets, candles, vases, and personalized wedding cameras also. One item that's big this year and has that sense of fun is Chinese take-out boxes. Those inexpensive cardboard boxes with a wire handle that contain your take-out or extra food from restaurants. The range of sizes and colors makes them ideal for containing a wide variety of treasures. Many boxes get decorated with fun Japanese symbols, bows, ribbon, chopsticks, tropical drink umbrellas, and photos.
If you budget is tight, you might want to consider giving one favor per couple. This will decrease the number needed and leave you more money for other things. If you go with the one per couple idea, it is best to place the favor between the couple's seats and to have a card with both names on it so they know it is to be shared. It is also a good idea to have favours that have a 'couple' theme such as a photo frame with room for two photos. Remember, though, that children, young adults and those without a date for the reception will each receive individual favours, so keep that in mind when choosing what to offer.
Favours can also be put directly in the cars of your guests. The valet can do this for you. Imaging the surprise on your guests' faces when they return to their cars! Just make sure there are enough in each car for all of the passengers. |
