The Benefits of Purchasing a Hardwood Conservatory

With summer only just a few months away, you may be thinking about adding a conservatory onto your house to allow you to enjoy the sunshine within your home. You know from visiting your neighbours that they all have white UPVC conservatories which are extremely comfortable to sit in. But you want to stand out from the crowd and have a more natural looking conservatory in your garden. In that case, have you considered that a hardwood conservatory would give you the look you are after. Originally from the Victorian period, hardwood conservatories were regularly used for the purpose of growing plants and seeds that were brought into this country from much warmer climates. A greenhouse would be used nowadays to serve this purpose.

However hardwood conservatories have managed to stay in fashion for various reasons and are now used by us to sit and relax in. They promise to provide an interesting alternative to the conventional white UPVC conservatory that we are all so familiar with. As well as providing your garden with an entirely different look to the more conventional white UPVC conservatory, a hardwood conservatory is arguably more thermally efficient and beneficial to the environment. UPVC can be damaging to the environment as it is non-renewable. Whereas hardwood conservatories on the other hand, are made from timber which is a renewable material.

As such, a high demand for hardwood conservatories would not be as damaging to the environment as it would be with UPVC. In addition to this, to create the timber for a hardwood conservatory, old trees are cut down and new ones are planted in their place, which helps to reduce the level of carbon dioxide that is emitted into the earth’s atmosphere. Hardwood conservatories are significantly more thermally efficient. When using UPVC in a conservatory, the frame is often required to be fairly large in order to support the construction. This therefore means that there would be little window space and a substantial amount of UPVC.

However, a hardwood conservatory can afford to have smaller frames, meaning that there is more room for window space. There are more places for the sun to shine through with additional window space which means that ultimately, your conservatory will remain warmer. Hardwood conservatories are aesthetically pleasing and allow you to increase your living space. As the wooden colours blend in naturally with your garden’s surrounding colours, hardwood conservatories add a more natural look to your garden. They also allow you more freedom if and when you were to make the decision to decorate your house as the timber can be easily painted.

As well as providing you with an attractive extension onto your home, a hardwood conservatory will also provide you with a comfortable place to escape from the busy comings and goings of your household. You can use this space to sit and relax with your thoughts, read a book or just watch nature go by in your back garden. By combining the classic style of timber with double glazed windows, you will be ensuring that you can sit in your additional room at any time of the year without worrying about getting cold. Installing a radiator or a heater into your hardwood conservatory would enable the wood and double glazing to work together and contain the heat within. This will allow you to stay warm and comfortable any time of the year.
