Is an Electric Furnace Better than a Gas Furnace?

When you reside in an area that has cold climates, you would

need to install a furnace at home. Furnaces use different

energy sources to create the heat. Wood, gas, electricity,

coal, and oil are some of the energy sources. Wood, coal,

and oil are not used anymore. Modern homes use gas or

electricity. Both fuels have their pros and cons. We feel

that electricity provides a few advantages over gas.

Gas furnaces do pose various health hazards. When you use

gas, there are chances of explosion, and the release of

poisonous gases. As you burn natural gas, carbon monoxide

and other poisonous gases are released.

In our body, body circulation is very important for our

health. Additionally, the quantum of oxygen in the blood is

critical. It is our blood that feeds our organs and tissues

with oxygen. Oxygen mixed with hemoglobin to form

carboxyhemoglobin, generally referred to as CO poising.

Carbon Monoxide gets attracted to hemoglobin more powerfully

- nearly 250 times faster than oxygen. Carbon Monoxide, even

inhaled slowly can be dangerous and could lead to brain

damage. This is particularly dangerous to pregnant women as

it takes a much longer time to flush the poison from a

fetus.
An Electric furnace does not produce any type of poisonous

gas. There is no process of burning or fire in an electric

furnace, so there is no production of any dangerous gas.

There is no chance of explosion, if you are using an

electric furnace.
Electric furnaces are a bit more expensive, but are

available easily in the market. Installation of an electric

furnace is easier as all it needs is an electrical

connection. It is also cheaper to maintain an electric

furnace. Since the heat is focused on a small area, electric

furnaces can be smaller and more elegant. You do not need to

line the walls with fire proof bricks and stuff like that.
