Immerse Yourself In The Pink Hue Of Jaipur

The pink city of Rajasthan is 260 Km from the capital city of Delhi and the third city of Golden Triangle Tour. It is one of the most visited tourist spots in the country by local, national and global tourists. Adorned with a royal charm and developing metropolis nature, this city is an amalgamation of tradition and modernity. Popularly known as the Pink City, due to the hue reflected by historical monuments at sunset, Jaipur derives its name from the warrior and astronomer King Sawai Jai Singh II (ruled from 1750-68) who founded it. It was India’s first planned city which was designed by a Bengali architect named Vidyadhar Bhattacharya in accordance with ancient Hindu treatise on architecture, the Shilpa Shastra (Vasstu). Monuments and historical structures are abundant in the city with splendid Mughal and Rajasthani architecture which are a testimony of the legendary bygone era.

The marvelous City Palace is a beautiful complex situated at the heart of the city spread over a wide area. Just before it, lays Mubarak Mahal, the palace of welcome or reception used as a reception centre for the visiting personage. City Palace is now made into a museum where King Sawai Man Singh’s royal costumes, some exquisite and precious Pashmina shawls, Silk Saris and folk embroidery fabrics are on display. The Maharani's Palace, the palace of the queen puts a display of Rajput weaponry which date back to 15th century. Cannons, guns, poison, tipped blades, belt swords etc are all displayed in best state of preservation.

The art Gallery located in the Diwan-E-Aam exhibits some very precious original handwritten manuscripts of Hindu scriptures and delicate miniature paintings of Rajasthani, Mughal and Persian schools. Painted ceilings and amazing frescoes are another pretty sight. Similarly Diwan-E-Khas is a marble paved pavilion which displays the world's largest sterling silver objects and two silver gigantic vessels. They were used by the king for drinking water of river Ganges.

The Chandra Mahal is another splendid palace exhibited with paintings, sculptures etc. The cities of Rajasthan are quite famous for the large number of lakes surrounded by palaces as well. Jaipur too has a holy centre of Galta ji which encloses natural springs and water tanks. On the same lines, temples in the city attract pilgrims from far and wide due to their unique styles. Moti Dungri temple meaning pearl hill is an exotic palace replicated as Scottish castle and dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Birla Mandir or Lakshmi Narayan temple is constructed with marble and has three domes each portraying different approaches to religion. As the culture of Rajasthan is vibrant with traditions, customs and rituals, they are fondly celebrated in the form of fairs and festivals as well. Elephant festival is one such spectacular festival where a procession of colorfully adorned elephants takes place and engage in various sports like race, polo etc.

Expansive and neatly tendered parks provide relaxation to tourists and enable them to connect with nature peacefully. Kanak Vrindavan, Sisodia Rani ka Bagh and Vidyadhar gardens are some of the best landscaped gardens in Jaipur.
