The Stylish HTC Rhyme Allows Users To Download Applications From Android Market

If you own an Android smartphone like the HTC Rhyme, you are able to download applications in a similar way to the famous AppStore on phones like the iPhone 4S. This is thanks to Android Market, which is where owners of Android smartphones can browse thousands of apps from various categories which can be downloaded straight to the handset.

Android Market has recently received an update which has given it a new appearance and layout along with being much easier to use. In this article, I will walk you through the process of downloading an app on an Android powered smartphone like the HTC Rhyme.

The Android Market app is provided as standard on all compatible Android smartphones. The app can be found in the ‘All Apps’ menu which is located on the bottom left of the HTC Rhyme’s homescreen. When you have scrolled through the apps to locate the Android Market shortcut (this can also be placed on the homescreen for convenience) simply tap it to open. When opened, the homescreen of the Android Market will appear, presenting promoted content like movies and premium games titles. There are also shortcuts to apps, books and movies, all of which can be downloaded to the handset.

Tap the apps shortcut, and you will be taken to the apps homepage where again, promoted apps will be displayed. You can then swipe your finger across the screen from right to left in order to browse the top paid apps. Repeat this action and you will be presented with the top free apps. From the home page you can also swipe from right to left where you will be taken to a categories menu, where you can browse apps by category. There are many to choose from and once one has been selected, you can swipe left or right to view the top paid, top free and top grossing apps within that category. You can scroll up or down to view them in order of popularity, or touch the magnifying glass icon on the top right to search for a specific app title or keyword, where you will then be presented with an on screen Qwerty keyboard to input the title of the app you are looking for.

Once you have found your desired app, simply tap the download button and the process will begin. To ensure the fastest download time, I recommend using a Wi-Fi connection, although a 3G connection will certainly suffice but data charges may apply depending on your tariff and data allowance.

Your app will begin downloading and installing in the background and you can check its progress on the notifications screen which can be accessed by sliding your finger down from the top of the touchscreen. Once successfully installed, you will be able to find the app in the ‘All Apps’ menu and you can choose to place it on one of the 7 homescreens supplied by the HTC Sense UI.

As you can see, downloading apps to Android smartphones like the HTC Rhyme is a relatively simple task. Simply follow the steps above if you are carrying out this task for the first time, and I’m sure it will become second nature in no time.
