A Journey Across North India

The northern part of India has an assortment of tourism to offer to the travelers. It has various kinds of places, different locations with different cultural heritage, variety of landscapes ranging from mountains to plains and deserts to rains. The geographical features of northern India take tourism to a different level altogether. The snow clad hills of Himalayas are a breath taking site which keeps the viewer captivated. The fertile Indo-Gangetic planes at the foothills of Himalayas have various kinds of beautiful landscape to offer. The desert region in Rajasthan is one of its kinds and a unique creation of God. All in all the entire region of North India has a lot to cater to the different tastes of different tourists. The different cultures, traditions, rituals, religions along with different regional structures make it a diverse place with a rich heritage.
North India consists of different states of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan. Ranging from hills and mountains to historical monuments, from flora and fauna to adventure sports, from pilgrimage places to the happening nightlife of Delhi, North India has sufficient varieties to provide to different individuals.
To begin with the historical monuments, India is known for its rich heritage due to the different dynasties which has ruled over the country in the past. The TAJ MAHAL being the most remarkable out of all the monuments, also included in one of the wonders of the world is a symbol of love and devotion build by Shah Jahan and located in the city of Agra, Uttar Pradesh. In Delhi, the impeccable structures of Qutub Minar, Jama Masjid, Red Fort, India Gate, Akshardham Temple are worth watching at least once in a lifetime. Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri at Agra, Hawa Mahal at Jaipur , Golden Temple at Amritsar are other examples of the rich historical monuments the country has to offer . Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh is one of the most enticing hill stations of the country and is popularly known as the “queen of hill stations”. Other famous hills stations in north India are Nainital, Manali, Dalhousie, Kasauli, Kufri, Mussorie, Srinagar, Leh, Dehradun and Mount Abu.
The city of Rishikesh is the destination for Yoga and meditation and also White River rafting. Haridwar is Famous for its temples and the holy waters of the sacred river Ganga. The Mughal architecture in the state of Uttar Pradesh especially Lucknow is known for its intricacy and impeccable designs. The state of Rajasthan has a vast desert region and the animals found there like camels and scorpions which are endemic to that region. India has the largest railway network in the world and some of its trains provide a very luxurious and extravagant journey. The Palace on Wheels, The Fairy Queen and The Heritage on Wheels are some of the popular ones.
A large variety of wildlife is also found in north India in various wildlife sanctuaries and national parks like, Jim Corbet National park, Ranthambor National Park, Pinch, Bharatpur bird Sanctuary etc.
India is spiritually acclaimed land since ages and the most renowned places in North India are Char Dhams, Vaishno Devi, Varanasi, Bodhgaya, Kushinagar, Pushkar, Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti Durgah at Ajmer, Golden Temple at Amritsar, Jama Masjid in Delhi and several churches.
