Ask any hungry London city worker 11am what they're most craving for lunch and the answer will often be 'a burrito, please!' We think we've figured out the main reasons why people are going so crazy for burritos in London right now.
They're fun.
The trade-off between getting plenty of mouth-watering filling and containing it in a parcel that won't fall apart is tricky to master. With so many filling and topping decisions, it’s tempting to go for the ‘everything’ option, and that’s certainly a tasty way to go. The options are what makes it so appealing to go back time again though, there’s almost an endless number of different combinations you could go for each time. Luckily you just have to make the decisions in the many excellent burrito take outs in London, getting it all wrapped up is a skill that is taken care for you!
They're fast.
If you're looking for Mexican food in London, then you won't have to go far for a burrito. Mexican restaurants are popping up all over London and many of them will even deliver an order to your office or home. Although your burrito is created in a matter of seconds, it's all fresh ingredients, packed full of flavour. And how can you beat that? If you aren't after a quick food fix, you can always join head to a later-opening store for a more laid back meal with a beer or two.
They're healthy.
Tortillas and black beans alone are rich in proteins, fibre and complex carbohydrates. And if you want to make your burrito even healthier, then you can cut out the flour tortilla and just go with a box piled high with all the delicious fillings (which, let's face it, are the best bit anyway). Fast food that's good for you – that's what's so loveable about the burrito.
They're flexible.
Possibly the best thing about the burrito and about Mexican food in London in general is that it doesn't come pre-packaged in a sealed box. Choose exactly what you want, whether it's a burrito, tacos or nachos with steak, pork, chicken or veggie goodness. Don't like sour cream? Then don't have it – although we might think you're a bit mad!
