Screen And Cameras Compared On The Sony Xpeia S And The Xperia Arc S

At the recent CES show Sony unveiled their latest premium smartphone, the impressive Xperia S. This is the first model that Sony have launched since parting company with Ericsson, the manufacturer who they have been producing handsets with for the last three years. We see how this new model compares with the last model that Sony and Ericsson released together, the Xperia Arc S.

Only six months has passed since the Arc S was launched by Sony Ericsson but it is amazing to see how fast technology can progress in such a short period of time. Both of these models use screens that are very similar in size yet very different in terms of the resolution that they can display. The new Xperia S incorporates a high quality 4.3 inch screen that makes use of the very latest LED backlit technology. A very high resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels can be displayed by this model. Not only is this the highest resolution currently available on any smartphone but it is also the first screen to eclipse the famous Apple Retina display that is used on the White iPhone 4S. Apple led the way in this department for many months thanks to the 326PPI pixel density that they offered but this new Sony model manages to offer a massive 342PPI. The Xperia Arc S uses the same screen technology but can only display a much lower resolution of 480 x 854 which equates to a pixel density of 233PPI. Compared to many smartphones the Xperia Arc S offers a very high quality display but the new Xperia S is the first of the next generation of handsets that are all set to offer us even higher levels of quality. Both of these models incorporate scratch resistant glass in their displays to help the models look like they are brand new even after months of use.

Camera facilities is another area where many 2012 models will raise the bar and the new Sony Xperia S is no exception. The phone is capable of capturing a still photograph at a resolution of 12 million pixels. This kind of quality ensures that the images not only look superb on the handsets display but also if they are shown on a larger screen such as a computer monitor or a home television. A number of features are included on the model to help you take the perfect photograph including image stabilisation and touch focus. The Xperia Arc S uses a smaller resolution 8 mega pixel camera that includes all of the additional features that the new model offers. In terms of video capture both models can record high definition footage but the Xperia S captures does so in 1080P resolution which is the highest quality currently available. The Arc S is good in this area and produces excellent results despite recording in a lower resolution of 720P.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S is still a very capable device but it can not match the excellence shown by the new Sony Xperia S. This models includes a display and camera features that exceed what can be found on any other phone currently on the market.
