A Comparison Of The Comparatively Affordable HTC Desire S And Samsung Wave 3

These days, people who are looking for a new smartphone are spoilt for choice, with advertising from the likes of Apple and Samsung making it seem like these are the only options. This also makes it seem like you need to spend a fortune on a new handset. However, manufactures like HTC have a range of smartphones which comes with many of the features found on their more expensive rivals, many of which may cost less than you would think.

In this article I will provide an overview of a couple of these handsets, so you can make a more informed decision when you purchase your next smartphone, and maybe save some money at the same time.

HTC Desire S
The original HTC Desire was a huge success. It sold millions of units and even won “Phone of the Year 2010” in gadget magazine T3. The HTC Desire S brings a number of upgrades to the winning formula of the original. Most notably, it has the latest version of Android, along with the innovative HTC Sense UI over the top. Additionally, it comes with a more powerful processor, meaning that demanding applications can be run with ease. Among its other key features are a 5 megapixel camera with 720p video capture, a high resolution touchscreen and faster internet browsing. As the handset comes with the Android OS, users have access to hundreds of thousands of apps from the Android Market, as well as widgets, skins, wallpapers and ringtones from the HTC Hub.

Samsung Wave 3
Samsung has recently enjoyed phenomenal success thanks to the popularity of the Galaxy S2, which seems to be the go to handset for those looking for an alternative to the iPhone 4. However, they have several lesser known handsets which come with lots of great features, but are also more affordable than its high end devices. An example is the Samsung Wave 3. This handset certainly looks the part with its stylish design, but it does not sacrifice any features to achieve this. It runs the relatively unknown Bada OS, but this is customisable and easy to use. There is a 5 megapixel camera included with 720p video and flash, fast internet browsing, and a 4 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen which is great for multimedia use. It also has a powerful 1.4 GHz processor, so it also provides outstanding performance.

Devices like the HTC Desire S and the Samsung Wave 3 may not be marketed as heavily as many other smartphones, but if you take the time to look at the alternatives, you can pick up a feature packed smartphone without spending a fortune. Phones Limited compares the best deals daily, so you can pick up your preferred smartphone on the tariff of your choice.
