A Look At The Advantages Of HTC Sense On The Impressive HTC Sensation XE

The HTC Sensation XE is a new version of the popular HTC Sensation, offering a number of upgrades such as Beats Audio, more powerful processor, and a few tweaks to its styling.

However, it retains most of the features that made the original such a good phone. Among these is the renowned HTC Sense UI. In this article I will look at some of the benefits that the Sense UI brings to users of the HTC Sensation XE.

Customisable Interface
The Sense UI (in this case it is version 3.5) allows users to customise up to seven different homescreens. Therefore, you could have one for work, set with productivity apps like Documents To Go. A driving homescreen with navigation and handsfree applications or a social networking homescreen with Twitter and Facebook apps or the FriendStream widget are other options. If you are into health and fitness, you could even have a homescreen assigned to your workouts by including apps like Total Body Fitness, Calorie Counter and Run Keeper. With seven homescreens and thousands of apps and widgets to choose from, there are nearly endless possibilities, and this versatility means that almost any type of user can benefit from HTC Sense on smartphones like the HTC Sensation XE.

Downloadable Apps and Widgets
As the HTC Sensation XE runs the latest version of the Android operating system, access to the Android Market is included as standard. This means that users have access to hundreds of thousands of apps which are assigned to various categories. This works in a similar way to the famous AppStore, which iPhone users can use to browse apps which can be downloaded straight to the handset. Many apps are available for free, with some premium titles requiring a small fee before they can be downloaded. However, it is not just apps that users can download on their HTC Sensation XE. HTC Hub is a portal which allows users to browse widgets, skins, wallpapers, message and ringtones and even additional alarm sounds, all of which can be downloaded straight to the handset.

Active Lockscreen
The latest version of HTC Sense allows phones like the Sensation XE to assign 4 applications of the user’s choice, which can be accessed without unlocking the homescreen. For example, if you receive a text message, you can read it instantly by dragging the app icon into the unlock ring. This saves the task of unlocking the phone and then opening the messaging application. This is a perfect example of HTC’s ethos of creating software which allows users to carry out tasks with the fewest possible steps.

As you can see, the HTC Sense UI offers numerous innovative features, and these extend to native apps like the Phone app with its SmartDial function and the internet browser which has Text Auto Reflow. The HTC Sensation XE is a perfect showcase for the Sense UI as it has the latest version of both Sense and Android, as well as powerful hardware. The HTC Sensation XE is available now on various UK networks, with several currently offering the handset for free on selected tariffs.
