Know How to Make Roman Shades

Roman shades are beautiful and elegant window blinds to prevent scorching heat of the sun and also the snooping neighbors. These shades are less expensive than the ornate blinds, yet nicer than simple plastic shades. For their manifold utilities, roman shades have become a top favorite of the interior decorators. More interesting fact about these amazing shades is one can make roman shades right at home. Making roman shades is uncomplicated and you can do the same by following a few simple steps. It is also a cheapest way you can decorate home nicely. SO, get ready to utilize your innovative skills this time by making beautiful roman shades.
Square the fabric of the roman shades in the beginning. You need to cut the shades in such a manner so that they do not hang lopsided. A twisted shade would never look good. A main reason why shades twist or hand lopsided is that their cuts are not ok. Take help of T square or the right angle tool when you mark and measure the fabric before cutting it. While making the window blinds, you should apply this same rule. Make the edge of the fabrics square to make sewing with the linen simpler.
A common mistake while make roman shades is to apply merely 2 or 3 cords into the shades to operate. This idea is flop, as fabric would swag in between when you will lift the cords. For looking smart, the cords must be enough close to each other. Keep around 10” distance between each cords. Apart from the numbers of the cords, you need to consider the quality of the hardware. This is important for the basic yet indispensible things like screw eyes and the cord cleats. You would have to look for different materials for the lightweight and heavier shades. To give the shade a perfect look, you should go for the bead chain clutch system with a continuous loop bead chain.
While making window blinds, be careful about piecing the fabric is the shade is wider than it. While doing so, try to place a full fabric width on the middle of the roman shade. After this, place the remaining fabrics on each of the sides of the shade. By doing so, you can avoid an unsightly joint in the middle part of the shade. There is a special type of blind hemstitch. Use this one while you make the shades on your own. Again, use long straight static only for sewing the same. Plus, adding roman shades ribs would be nice idea to make the blinds looking more attractive.
