Western Cape Wines - Some of the finest around

New world wines are fast catching up the old world wines and South Africa is becoming a popular region for wine lovers all over the world. Within this amazing country, the Western Cape has been producing some fantastic wines through the well-kept vineyards and customers are now keeping an eye out for these wines as their taste, quality and value for money is becoming more apparent each day. These vineyards produce a range of quality wines from taste bud tingling reds to mouth-watering whites and amazing rose wines to throw into the mix as well.

South Africa has a rich history of wine making and can be dated back to 1659 when Jan van Riebeeck produced the first wine in the country. Since then, a range of grapes and tastes have come out the many vineyards in the country but the Western Cape has proved to be one of the best. As with many new world wines, many of South Africa's wines blend together 2 types of grapes which is why the market has seen Chenin Blanc Chardonnay, Shiraz Grenache, Pinotage Rose and many more.

The most popular regions in the Western Cape are Stellenbosch, Paarl, Constantia, Franschhoek, Wellington and Robertson. Locally, these regions are known as Boland as this translates to "uplands" in Afrikaans. Such as been the popularity of the region, the Cape Winelands were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. This shows that as well as being a great wine making region, it is also beautifully kept. South Africa, on the back of its success, have pushed on to ensure that they are constantly producing high quality wines for customers to enjoy.

There used to be a select number of wines on the market with the usual wines from France, Italy, Spain and France appearing but with a range of new world wines from countries like South Africa, customers now have a great range of choice when they are looking for the perfect wine. Whether they are planning a meal with friends or family or just looking to have a glass of wine after a long week at work, they can look to these new world wines to provide them with the best tasting wines around. If you are a wine lover and are looking for a fantastic wine, why not think outside the box and choose one of the great wines from South Africa that are now available to enjoy.
