The New Motorola Razr And The Lumia 800-Impressive OS On These Handsets

The new Motorola Razr sits alongside the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the iPhone 4S as one of the very best smartphones available. Previously we took a look at this model along with the new Nokia Lumia 800 to see how screen technology and performance compared. This time we take a look at the media features offered on both devices and also see how the two different operating system compare.

Nokia handsets have used the famous Carl Zeiss lens for some time now so one would expect the Lumia 800 to come out on top in this area but the Motorola Razr proves triumphant thanks to a fantastic camera facility. The model makes use of an 8 mega pixel camera that produces a superb quality of image. One aspect of this photography facility that really does impress us is the speed at which the feature launches and enables you to capture your desired image. The model features an LED flash for when lighting conditions are not ideal and touch focus which lets you chose the element of the photograph that you want to focus on. In the video camera department the Razr offers the ultimate in quality thanks to 1080P resolution which is currently the highest standard of footage that can be captured. A secondary front facing camera is also included which is not only perfect for video calling but also enables you to take photographs at 1.3 mega pixel resolution, a feature that is sadly missing on the Lumia 800. The Nokia offers a respectable camera facility but one that does not match the Motorola in terms of quality. An 8 mega pixel camera offers great photographic results and features like the auto focus and the dual LED flash help you take the perfect picture. The problem we experienced with this model is that it is very slow to actually capture the desired shot. This meant that it was very difficult to capture the moment perfectly as the camera was always a couple of seconds behind what we actually saw. The Lumia 800 enables video capture which is recorded at 720P resolution.

Both of these models offer great operating systems and there is little to choose between the two in this area. The Motorola Razr runs on version 2.3 of the Android OS. This platform is regarded as the most popular Android system ever released and offers numerous benefits to the user. The excellent home screen system has numerous customisation options so you really can tailor the appearance to meet your own requirements. The Android store gives you access to tens of thousands of different applications whilst the web browser that is included makes surfing the internet a simple task. The Lumia 800 runs on the new Windows 7.5 platform that offers some great benefits to the user. The software includes the excellent Internet Explorer 9 web browser and also incorporates a unified inbox which allows you to combine several different e mail accounts.

The Motorola Razr and the Nokia Lumia 800 are both great smartphones. The devices use excellent operating systems but the Razr outshines its rival when it comes to camera and video features.
