Measurement – might sound to be a difficult one as it involves a lot of calculation and lot of confusion as it was practiced so in the early days. It was very difficult to carry out the measurement process for many of the areas as the areas were either too large to measure or there was no instrument to measure these kind of abnormal areas and things. Later there was a development in the technology by inventing several measurement instruments which aided the human beings in measurement. But even then a lot of human work was to be involved as there were several technical calculations involved which had led to the discovery of the all important laser. Laser has created a great revelation in the field of measurement as it is being used for several purposes in the day to day life. Let us have a glimpse of all the uses of laser as measuring equipment.
Laser has played its role in the measurement of depth of the sea by the people who are involved in construction works under water and other works. Initially the phenomenon of Doppler Effect was first used but now with the advent of the laser high power beam there has been many advantages which have completely eliminated the use of the above method. When a high intense laser beam is sent across the sea whose depth is to be measured then the beam will itself calculate for the depth of the sea and give the accurate value in mm and hence is considered to be one of the top uses of laser.
Laser has also found its application through measuring in the field of medicine. For many of the cataract operations which are done laser beams are sent in with a high level of intensity to measure the distance between the retina and the cocus of the eye and then preceded for the operation. Also laser is now commonly used for measuring in many of the construction works as it clearly eliminates the need for manual work and hence saves time and money for the organization. Laser as the name suggests as it is light amplified simulated emission by radiation needs to be handled with utmost care and safety. It is generally advised that these laser measurement instruments are kept away from the reach of children and unknown people. The after effects caused by the attack of these high intense laser radiations are very worse an hence needs to be handled with utmost care and safety. |
