A Review Of The Internet Browsing Capabilities Of The Stylish Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is arguably one of the most stylish smartphone available today, with its slim profile and stylish black finish. Its spec list is equally impressive, and one area that stands out is its credentials as an internet browsing device. This will be the focus of this article.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc uses both 3G coverage and Wi-Fi as its primary means of connecting to the internet. In areas with 3G coverage, the handset calls upon an HSDPA connection, whereby data download speeds of up to 7.2 megabytes per second are available. This allows web pages to load quite quickly, and YouTube videos stream quickly with minimal buffering. Wi-Fi is the alternative method of connecting to the web, and offer several advantages over 3G. It is faster, as it uses a broadband connection which is supplied to the phone through a wireless router. Also, because of this it does not use up your data allowance, which makes it an attractive option for those who have such restrictions on their tariff. Lastly, 3G is notorious for using up battery life very quickly. WI-Fi uses much less battery, so you can browse the internet for longer without worrying about using up you precious battery life. To use Wi-Fi you simply need the appropriate access details for a local wireless network. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc saves the login details for these, and automatically connects whenever it is in range.

A good internet connection is useless unless you have a decent web browsing software, and in the case of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc this is in the form of an app. The TimeScape UI provides this as standard, but there are several other alternatives available from the Android Market. These include Opera Mini, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, along with hundreds of thousands of other apps from various categories.

As you can see, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc has a great list of internet browsing credentials, but there are many other impressive features. These include an 8 megapixel digital camera with LED flash and 720p video capture, Android OS and a high resolution touchscreen. All of this hardware relies on the processing power provided by the 1 GHz processor. The processor is responsible for things like the loading times of web pages, and the responsiveness of the touchscreen.

Whilst the smartphone market is flooded with Apple and HTC devices, there are several impressive alternatives, of which the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is a great example. It is available now on various UK networks.
