The Versatile Motorola RAZR Features An 8 MP Camera With 1080p Video

The Motorola RAZR is arguably one of the most appealing new smartphones to hit the market in recent months. With features like its high resolution touchscreen, dual-core processor, 8MP camera with 1080p video and loads of storage capacity, it would be a mistake to dismiss this phone in favour of the more popular iOS and Android powered devices.

In this article I will take a closer look at some of the key features of the Motorola RAZR.

Aesthetics
As the name of the handset suggests, the Motorola has a very slim profile. At just 7.1mm, it now holds the title of the thinnest smartphone in the world. The styling of the handset is rather understated and minimalistic. The front is dominated by the 4.3 inch super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, with the standard capacitive Android shortcut keys located beneath.

Screen
The screen of the Motorola RAZR boasts a very high resolution of 540x 960, which is nearly on par with the retina display found on the iPhone 4S. This makes for very high display quality, meaning the handset really lends itself to multimedia use. If you are the kind of mobile phone user who likes to view your photos and videos on your phone, or play games and browse the internet, the Motorola RAZR should fit the bill.

Internet Browsing
The Motorola RAZR is well equipped as an internet browsing device. With data download speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps (the same as the iPhone 4S and the HTC Sensation), web pages load quickly and YouTube videos stream with minimal buffering. Wi-Fi offers an alternative internet connection method, and has several advantages over 3G; such as less battery usage, faster browsing speeds, and it does not use up your data allowance which is handy if you have restrictions on your tariff.

Operating System
The Motorola RAZR has the latest version of the Android OS (v2.3 aka Gingerbread), although it is likely that the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich version will also be supported. There are several appealing aspects to this software, such as its simplicity and customisable features. It also allows users to download additional apps from the Android Market. This has hundreds of thousands of apps available within numerous categories. Like the Apple AppStore, it allows users to download apps directly to the handset, with many available for free whilst others require a fee.

Camera
The Motorola RAZR comes well equipped to take high quality still images thanks to an 8 megapixel camera. This has a resolution of 3264x 2448, meaning that the resulting mages are captured in high levels of clarity and detail. The camera comes with autofocus, LED flash, face detection and image stabilisation as well as the ability to capture 1080p (full HD) video footage.

As you can see, the specifications of the Motorola RAZR are generally very good. Every aspect of the spec list has premium features, so if you are looking for a good alternative to the popular iPhone and HTC models which are currently dominating the market, this is worthy of a place on your shortlist.
