The Superb HTC Sensation XL Showcases Beats By Dr Dre Audio Technology

The HTC Sensation has proven to be one of the most popular smartphones for the prolific manufacturer in 2011. The winning formula of this handset has been the basis of a couple of upgraded versions, the HTC Sensation XE and XL. In this article I will take a look at some of the key features of the Sensation XL.

Unlike the Sensation XE, this version looks very different to the original. The handset has a completely different design aesthetic, looking more like the Desire HD, thanks largely to its bigger screen. Also, one of the most noticeable attributes is its white colour scheme. This makes it a head turning device, which should fit the bill for those who also view their phone as a fashion statement.

The front of the handset is dominated by the large 4.7 inch S-LCD capacitive touchscreen, which has a high pixel resolution of 480x 800. This is not as high as the original Sensation or the XE, but we must bear in mind that the screen is some 0.4 inches bigger. It still remains able to display its on screen contents in very high quality though.

There is no micro SD slot with this version, as there is with the original and the XE versions. What it lacks in this department, it more than makes up for in it’s on board storage; with 16GB included as standard. This amount should prove ample for most users, and keeps things simple for those who would rather not deal with swapping memory cards.

Internet browsing is definitely strength of the HTC Sensation XL. With speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps available on 3G covered areas, it is on par with the other versions as well as the likes of the iPhone 4S. There is also the option of Wi-Fi connectivity and a web browsing app provided by HTC Sense, so you are unlikely to hear any complaints in this department.

The handset also has an 8 megapixel camera, which comes with all the bells and whistles you would expect. These include autofocus, touch focus, face detection, 720p video recording (including slow motion) and dual-LED flash. There is also a 1.3 MP camera located on the front of the handset which can be used for video calls and self portrait photos.

The latest version of Android is also included, and no doubt the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich version will also be supported. Unlike the other versions, there is no dual-core processor here, but a single core 1.5 GHz chip. This provides more than ample performance for both the hardware and software.

If you are looking for a powerful all round smartphone but don’t want to sacrifice aesthetic style, I highly recommend the HTC Sensation XL. This phone is available now on various UK networks, several of which are offering the handset for free on selected tariffs.
