The Importance and Benefits of Breastfeeding

Studies show that breastfed babies are generally healthier and more mentally advance their physical, mental and emotional than bottle-fed infants. Statistics show that worldwide, there are at least 40% of children aged less than six months are exclusively breastfed. If a large number of babies breastfed for the first six months of life, it is similar to that of about 1.2 million children will be saved per year. If these children continue to breastfeed until they are at least two years of development and the overall health of millions of children will be enriched and improved.

Breastfeeding is natural and healthy method of infant feeding. Although artificial feeding by bottle feeding with formula milk is acceptable, there is a risk of artificial feeding. It is a fact that childhood diarrhea are closely associated with artificial feeding. Access to safe water and improved hygiene when preparing infant formula and milk is a must. Breastfeeding has been around since the beginning of words, but infant formula has been used for about 150 years only. Although the infant has evolved and improved considerably over the years, still can’t repeat the power and importance of breast milk is immunological.

Studies have shown that mothers should breastfeed for the first hour after birth. This intimate relationship of mother and child contacts. "The first milk" or colostrum is also expressed in early feedings. Colostrum contains antibodies sufficient to protect the baby from the disease. When expressed colostrum, breast milk is readily available. It also contains antibodies that help protect against diarrhea and pneumonia, two deadly diseases in infants.

No other "food" or "drink" or even water is needed during the first six months of life. Breast milk is sufficient. At six months of the year, the child should be introduced to other foods, but breastfeeding should continue, if possible, before the age because it is an excellent source of food and energy. These option accessible, affordable and healthy babies. Breastfeeding is a health factor good life. Most adults who were breastfed when they were babies have less cholesterol and blood pressure, and lower levels of type 2 diabetes and obesity. There is an indication that breastfed babies do well in IQ tests.

Breastfeeding is not only useful for a child, but also for the mother. Nursing mothers generally do not menstruate, which is a good way and natural (but not 100%) of birth control. Mothers who breastfeed lose weight they received during pregnancy faster and can even lead to a decrease in their susceptibility to obesity. Breastfeeding may also reduce the risk of ovarian cancer and breast cancer.
