The HTC Sensation has a number of features which make it ideal for travelling. In this article I will take a closer look at some of these and how they help to make life easier for the frequent traveller.
For safety reasons, the HTC Sensation has an “Airplane Mode”, a pretty self explanatory feature. Like many other phones it allows users to turn off the actual phone function, so it remains safe to use any other apps on the handset when on a plane.
It is easy to keep track of the local time with the HTC Sensation. When you enter a new time zone, the clock will automatically adjust to display the correct local time. There are a number of clock widgets to choose from included as standard, with additional ones available from, the HTC Hub. There is also an option which displays two clocks which can be set to display the local time, and the time in your home country. This is useful if you are abroad and want to make a phone call back home but want to make sure it is at a convenient time for the person you are calling, with all the necessary information available at a glance.
Currency conversion applications are a convenient way to check the current exchange rates. Android Market has several to choose from, with dozens available for free, and a selection which requires a fee to download as they offer some more premium features. If you simply need to check currency rates and make simple conversions, a free one will suffice.
If you want to check the weather of your destination in advance, or want to check the weather at home when you are out of the country, the HTC Sensation has a number of options. Like the currency converters, there are dedicated weather applications available on the Android Market, but the HTC Sensation offers everything you need as standard in this respect. There is a weather widget as part of HTC Sense, and users can set their own list of locations for which the weather can be displayed. When a destination is selected, a graphic and sound sequence will be displayed to convey the weather in a more interactive way that just a text description.
When travelling abroad, language barriers are often a problem for non speakers. The HTC Sensation even has you covered in this department, again thanks to Android Market. One of the best examples of a translator app is Google Translate. This allows you to input any text in any language, and it will then be translated into the language of your choice. This makes it easy to ask locals for basics like directions or general questions. It also has a number of other handy features like the ability to translate your text messages.
Obviously there is a lot to like about the HTC Sensation aside from its travel features, but this shows just how versatile the handset is. Whether it is travel, business or entertainment, the HTC Sensation is sure to fit the bill. Since the release of the HTC Sensation XE and Sensation XL, many UK networks are now offering the original Sensation handset for free on selected tariffs.
