The Stylish Blackberry Torch 9810 Has A 5 Megapixel Digital Camera With LED Flash

Blackberry smartphones have long had a loyal following, and the Blackberry Torch was the handset that many RIM fans had been waiting for. This device introduced the concept of a slide out Qwerty keyboard and touchscreen. In this article I will review one of the updates from the original, the Blackberry Torch 9810.

The Blackberry Torch 9810 is a relatively compact device; measuring up at 111x 62x 14.6mm, which is relatively pocket friendly considering it has a separate keyboard unit. This is a major part of the appeal of this handset for many users. Sliding out to reveal itself from beneath the screen, the keyboard has the classic Qwerty layout that most users will be familiar with. This feature is ideal for those who send a lot of text messages or emails, as well as business users who need to edit documents on the go (the handset also has a document editor which is compatible with most MS Office documents such as Word and Excel).

The TFT capacitive touchscreen measures up at 3.2 inches, and offers a responsive and intuitive means of navigating the Blackberry 7.0 OS. The screen has a resolution of 480x 640, so does a good job of displaying photos, videos web pages and games. There are better screens available on other phones like the Apple iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy Nexus, but the majority of users are unlikely to notice the difference.

As a camera phone, the Blackberry Torch 9810 is well equipped to take good quality photos, thanks to its 5 megapixel unit which operates at 2592x 1944. This resolution results in good quality still images, which are enhanced further by autofocus, touch focus, face detection and image stabilisation. An LED flash is also included, so low lighting conditions are no longer an obstacle. When using the camera to shoot video footage, you will be pleased to know that settings of up to 720p are included, so you can capture videos in high definition. To store your photos and videos, as well as music and applications, 8 GB of internal storage is provided as standard, along with expandable memory in the form of a micro SD slot which can house a memory card of up to 32 GB.

The BB 7.0 OS works alongside a powerful 1.2 GHz processor to provide a good user experience. The processor provides all the computing power needed to run demanding applications, multitask, and lend itself to the smooth operation of various aspects of the hardware like the responsiveness of the touchscreen and camera capture button.

The Blackberry Torch 9810 and the Torch series as a whole are certainly unique looking devices. Functionality is the order of the day with this handset, so whether you are a business user, or a prolific SMS or email user, it comes highly recommended.
