A Closer Look At The Web Functionality Of The Impressive HTC Sensation

The HTC Sensation offers a number of attractive features which have contributed to making it a popular choice despite increasing competition from the likes of Apple and Samsung. The focus of this article will be the HTC Sensation’s credentials as a web browsing device.

Internet Connection
The HTC Sensation utilises a number of methods to connect to the internet, so you can enjoy the optimum connection based on your location’s network coverage and signal strength. Below I will outline the main methods utilised by the handset.

Wi-Fi
This provides the fastest means of internet connection. It works whenever your HTC Sensation is within the operational radius of a wireless internet router. If you have the appropriate access (usually in the form of a password) you can establish a connection with your phone. As it uses data from the router, it will not affect your data allowance which is ideal if you are on a restricted plan. It also provides the fastest connection, as you can enjoy similar speeds to those of home or office computer which is connected to the same wireless network. There is an increasing number of commercial and public locations which offer free Wi-Fi (usually meaning no password is required, or if a password is required, it will be made available to customers). These range from coffee chops, to restaurants, shopping centres and even supermarkets. Once you have connected to a Wi-Fi network, you can save its details so the handset will automatically connect to when it detects the network.

3G
The HTC Sensation uses 3G coverage as its primary and default means of downloading data. Thanks to its fast HSDPA (High Speed Download Packet Access) connection, speeds of up to 14.4 megabytes per second are available. This makes for very fast loading times of web pages, so their contents load quickly, and data streaming is fast (e.g. YouTube videos load with little buffering). The download speeds are beaten only by a small number of smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, making the HTC Sensation among the fastest available web browsing smartphone. The only downside to 3G internet browsing is that it uses your data allowance if you are on a restricted plan.

Web Browsing Software
Equally important as its connection method is the software used to browse the internet. The HTC Sensation has the HTC Sense UI, which includes a default web browsing application. This is has a simple interface and is easy to operate. It has a number of innovative features like pinch to zoom and text auto reflow, which make browsing easier. Thanks to its access to the Android Market, users can use whichever browsing application they wish, with notable alternatives including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Opera Mini.

The HTC Sensation makes an ideal choice for many types of user, but if you use your phone to browse the internet on a regular basis, you are sure to appreciate the features offered by the HTC Sensation.
