The Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro is an ideal handset for those who favour a physical keyboard, or those who prefer a more compact device. In this article I will take a closer look at some of the key features of the handset.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro, as the name suggests is a compact smartphone, measuring up at 92x 53x 18mm, so it is a packet friendly device. The front of the handset comfortably houses the 3 inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen. This has a decent resolution of 320x 480 which admittedly may not be on the same level as many newer smartphone such as the iPhone 4S or Samsung Galaxy Nexus, but this handset is not specifically pitched at multimedia use so should not prove to be an issue for most users.
One of the key selling points of the Sony Ericsson Mini Pro is the physical Qwerty keyboard which slides out to reveal itself from beneath the screen. It has the standard Qwerty layout which most will be familiar with, and really lends itself to those who send a lot of emails or text messages on their phone.
Internet browsing can also be carried out on the handset, with both Wi-Fi and 3G connections allowing users to visit websites on the move. The default connection is provides via 3G, whereby data download speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps can be achieved. For an optimum browsing experience, I recommend using the Wi-Fi connection where possible, as the connection will be faster, and you will not use up your precious data allowance if you are on a limited data tariff.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini sports a 5 megapixel camera, which has a versatile software package included. Features such as image stabilisation, face & smile detection and touch focus are all included and really help to simplify the task of taking high quality images. There is also an LED flash to overcome the obstacle of low lighting conditions, and as an added bonus, you can also shoot video footage in 720p (high definition).
The latest version of the smartphone optimised Android platform (v2.3 aka Gingerbread) is the OS of choice, and this works alongside a 1 GHz processor to provide a versatile and intuitive user experience. There are plenty of multimedia features to keep users entertained whilst apps such as the document viewer are included should you choose to use the phone for work purposes.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro is ideal for those who are seeking a mid range smartphone, and specifically those who prefer a physical keyboard or a smaller handset. If you prefer a smaller phone but are not bothered by the keyboard, you may be interested in the Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini which offers all the same features, minus the keyboard.
