A Review Of The Versatile Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray is one of the latest additions to the Xperia range. In this article I will take a closer look at the key features of this stylish smartphone.

One of the first things you will notice about the Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray is how stylish it is. Like the rest of the Xperia range, it has masses of aesthetic appeal. With the classic “candy bar” form factor, and a slim profile of 9.4mm along with white, pink, gold and black colour schemes to choose from, style conscious users will surely appreciate the head turning design of this handset.

The front of the handset is dominated by the 3.3 inch LED backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen which offers a pixel resolution of 480x 854. This is ideal for those who like to view their photos and videos on their phone, but the screen also lends itself to web browsing and gaming alike. The screen has an accelerometer and gyro sensor as standard, and the screen is manufactured from scratch resistant materials so it can withstand the occasional drop and everyday wear and tear. One of the more notable features of the screen is the inclusion of the Bravia Mobile Engine, calls upon which Sony Ericsson’s experience in the TV manufacturing industry.

The handset comes with 1 GB of user available storage as standard, although there is also a microSD slot with a 4 GB card included with the phone. This can be replaced with higher capacity card (up to 32 GB) should further storage be required. This should be more than ample for those who like to keep their music, videos and photos stored on their phone.

With an 8 megapixel digital camera, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray is a very capable camera phone. With its resolution of 3264x 2448, it is capable of producing high quality results with the added bonus of being simple to use. The camera can also be used for shooting video footage, in up to 720p (high definition) quality. The camera comes with a package of image enhancing features as standard, which includes the likes of image stabilisation, touch focus, and face & smile detection.

The operating system of choice is the popular Android platform, in this case it is version 2.3 (aka Gingerbread) although it has been confirmed that it will also support the upcoming v4.0 upgrade. Alongside its powerful 1 GHz processor, a great user experience is assured. There is a lot more that I could discuss about the Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray, hopefully the features that I have outlined above will give you a good idea about the user experience you can expect. If you are looking for a stylish alternative to the Apple and HTC offerings which are proving very popular which can hold its own against higher spec rivals, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray comes highly recommended.
