A Closer Look At The Pocket Friendly Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, as the name suggests is a compact smartphone, however it manages to fit a surprisingly lengthy spec list within its casing. Since the likes of the HTC HD Mini was released in 2009, there has been little in the way of compact smartphone releases. In this article I will provide an overview of the key features of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini.

The handset itself measures up at 88x 52x 16mm, so as expected, it is a pocket friendly and lightweight (99 grams), so if this is an important factor when choosing a new smartphone, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini certainly fits the bill in this respect. The front of the handset houses the 3 inch LED backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen. Although this is not the largest screen, it has a decent resolution of 320x 480, and as an added bonus it has the Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine, which calls upon Sony Ericsson’s experience in the TV manufacturing business.

The Xperia Mini has a versatile 5 megapixel camera, which operates at a pixel resolution of 2592x 1944. This is on hand to produce good quality still images, as well as video footage in 720p high definition. Image stabilisation, smile & face detection, touch focus, autofocus and a single LED flash are all included as standard. These features are all aimed at enhancing image quality, whilst simultaneously simplifying the task of taking pictures.

If you like to browse the internet on your phone, the Xperia Mini is sure to impress. Wi-Fi connectivity is included, so when you have access to local wireless networks you are provided with an optimum internet connection and you can browse the net to your heart’s content without using up your data allowance. If you are not within range of a Wi-Fi network you can still browse the internet using your 3G connection, at a rate of 7.2 megabytes per second, so web pages load reasonably fast, and YouTube videos load with little buffering.

With a 1 GHz processor under the hood, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini can handle demanding applications and multitask with no problems. The processor also ensures that the touchscreen remains responsive and web pages load in a matter of seconds.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini is versatile and offers decent levels of technology in most areas. Although it may lack the flair and specifications of its larger, higher end rivals, I do not think you will find a better equipped compact smartphone among the smartphones which are currently available.
