A Review Of The Digital Camera On The Superb HTC Sensation

In this article I will take a closer look at the HTC Sensation and its credentials as a camera phone. The camera is one of the features which many class as one of the most important when choosing a smartphone, so I will take an in depth look at this most important of features.

The 8 megapixel camera on the HTC Sensation operates at a pixel resolution of 3264x 2448. This means that it has a very high density of pixels, so when you take a picture, it will come out with very fine detail and clarity. The camera comes with several additional features which all aim to improve the quality of pictures whilst simultaneously making the camera easier to use.

Auto Focus
This is pretty self explanatory, but this feature saves the user from having to constantly focus on the correct area, by doing this automatically. If you want more control over this, you can opt to use touch focus.

Touch Focus
This feature allows users to have more control over which are the camera focuses on, simply by touching the screen. This is particularly handy when shooting videos. There is also a focus slider at the top of the touchscreen, which users can slide effort or right to zoom in and out.

Image Stabilisation
Image stabilisation is a useful feature which essentially cancels out the blur which often occurs when taking a picture. This is usually caused by the user making a small movement when pressing the capture button, resulting in a blurry image. Image stabilisation greatly reduces the occurrence of this blurring.

Video Capture
Aside from the ability to take still images, the HTC Sensation is also great when it comes to shooting videos. With 8 different settings to choose from, it allows video shooting in several different quality levels. These range from low (320x 240) to full HD (720p), as well as a couple of specialised settings such as MMS and online HD which optimised the video should users wish to send it via MMS or post it to YouTube or Facebook (which can be done on the phone instantly after recording).

Being part of the HTC Sense package, the camera has several handy features, like the ability to instantly switch between camera and camcorder modes, and several effects based on exposure settings.

As you can see, the camera on the HTC Sensation is both powerful and easy to use, with several adjustable setting to play around with if you are so inclined. There is, however a lot more to like about the HTC Sensation. It has a dual-core processor, high resolution touchscreen, and the new version of Android (v2.3) as its OS of choice. If you are in the market for a new smartphone, and the camera is an important feature to you, I would definitely recommend the HTC Sensation. It outdoes much of its competition in this respect, but also ticks many other boxes.
