A Closer Look At The Powerful HTC Sensation

The HTC Sensation has proven to be a popular choice since its release in April 2011. The handset offers everything you would expect from a high end smartphone and offers the legendary HTC build quality along with their award winning Sense interface which runs on top of the Android operating system.

In this article I will provide an overview of the key features of the HTC Sensation so you can decide if it is the right smartphone for you.

HTC Sense
As mentioned, the HTC Sensation runs the HTC Sense UI, and in the case of the Sensation, it is the latest version, v3.5. HTC Sense is popular for a number of reasons. It is versatile, customisable, powerful and above all, easy to use. The customisation aspect of it is what really sets it apart from the like of the iOS platform found in the iPhone 4S. Up to 7 homescreens can be customised to the user’s liking, with thousands of apps available on the Android Market as well as many on HTC Hub which offers additional widgets, skins and colour schemes which can all be downloaded directly to the handset.

Screen
Although it may not be on par with the iPhone 4S (the smartphone which many naturally compare others to), the screen on the HTC Sensation is still rather impressive. It has a high resolution (540x 960), so photos and videos are still displayed clearly and brightly with high levels of clarity and detail within the on screen imagery. The touchscreen aspect also ticks all the boxes; it is responsive and intuitive, and has all the added extras like an accelerometer sensor for auto rotate of the UI.

Memory
The Sensation offers 1 GB of internal memory as standard, although this is backed up with an 8 GB memory card which is provided with the handset. This can be replaced with a card of up to 32GB, should one need further storage.

Internet Browsing
The HTC Sensation offers one of the fastest rates of data download, at 14.4 megabytes per second. This is the same as the HTC Desire HD and the Apple iPhone 4S, and is only beaten by a couple of handsets like the Samsung Galaxy S2. This is available when users are in an area which has 3G coverage, but users can also opt to use the Wi-Fi connection whenever they have access to local wireless networks. The web browsing software is part of the HTC Sense package, and like so many other aspects of the interface, it has several innovative touches like text auto reflow (which resizes text on a web page to fit the screen in order to avoid excessive scrolling).

Camera
The HTC Sensation has the camera you would expect from a high end smartphone. The 8 megapixel unit operates at a pixel resolution of 3264x 2448, resulting in good quality still iages, which are enhanced further by touch-focus, image stabilisation, face detection and a dual-LED flash. When it comes to shooting video footage, users can select its quality, with settings of up to 1080p (full high definition) available.

As you can see, the HTC Sensation cuts no corners on its spec list. Although there is much more which could be discussed about this phone, hopefully the key features I have outlined above can give you a picture of the experience you can expect from the HTC Sensation.
