Christmas Joy at JOY
|
With Christmas rapidly approaching (where did ANOTHER year go?) we can’t help but start planning our Christmas-wrap-and-cards theme.
This year there is a definite mend and make do influence, as has been prominent for the last few years, which can be translate very nicely to Christmas wrap. Think brown paper, coloured twisted twine, ink stamped tags, stickers and cards; handwritten notes, little embellishments and a whole lotta love and JOY. Speaking of which...check out the gifts on offer over at JOY – you are bound to find something for everyone. From diva washing up brushes, (that are shaped like microphones! Genius) to eggs-tra special egg-cups, JOY are bound to have something to ease the Christmas panic – so you can focus on things that really matter! We have compiled a list of the ten best things to do over Christmas.
10. Watch Regent Street come alive when they switch on the West End lights (early November).
9. Head along to a festive show – there are loads to choose from! Be it the traditional nut-cracker, or the more hilarious traditional comedies (you know the ones, men dressed as women, women dressed as boys, and audiences yelling “Behind you! Behind you!”).
8. Put your best foot forward and try ice-skating at one of the many pop-up ice-skating rinks around London Town. Check out Sommerset House or Hyde Park.
7. Head along to Covent Garden to feed the reindeer - though keep an eye on your furry gnawing neighbour and make sure he doesn’t try to steal your fingertips!
6. Sing carols either by candle light, at home, with a group, at a hospital visiting patients – wherever! There is something magical about a well sung Christmas Carol.
5. Check out the Christmas markets. Head to Germany to get a real feel for them; while sipping away on traditional gluehwein. Alternatively, stay close to home and head down to Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park or take a look at the markets along South Bank. Don’t forget to try the mulled wine and hot cider on offer!
4. Eat cake. Mmmmm fruitcake. None of that thick marzipan icing though thanks.
3. Try out new recipes for Christmas lunch – liven up the sprouts with some chestnuts and bacon; add orange marmalade and brandy snaps to the ham glaze; make minted chocolate ANYTHING (surely it’s not just us that associate those two flavours with Christmas?).
2. Indulge your guilty pleasure and pop on that celebrity Christmas CD – we won’t tell if you won’t.
1. Wrap up warm and enjoy the beauty of the festive season! |
