Saving Money on Days Out for Students

It is a well-known cultural stereotype that students do not have a lot of money, and to some extent that is true. At university it can be difficult to get by, living on a shoestring budget, eating noodles every day and never having new clothes. One thing that students always have money for, however, is going out.

The problem is that going out can be expensive – especially if you are making a day of it. Eating out and entertaining yourself throughout the day, plus drinking at night, can be extremely money consuming, especially if you do it several times a week, or even every night like some students do, and most do during freshers week. It makes sense that students would look for money saving offers.

Many retailers and entertainment venues offer a student discount as standard – if you present your NUS or student union card you can receive a small amount of money off your purchase. Some restaurants offer free food, such as an extra burger or ice cream if you show your card. Most of these places obviously do not advertise their student deals as it is going to cost them money to give away free food, the principle being that a lot of people will simply pay full price if they do not know they can get money off.

A lot of the time students have to go looking around to find the best deals, and more often than not this means searching the internet. The world wide web is usually home to the best deals anyway, and a lot of the time you can print off vouchers or show them on your smart phone and get money off on the high street, or in clubs, pubs, restaurants or entertainment venues. Very often it is possible to get a much greater discount and a lot more money off after an internet search than you can get in stores and eateries etc as standard.

It can seem like you are only getting a small discount anyway, and so it might not be worth the effort, but that simply is not the case. True, sometimes it can take a few vouchers to make it worth your time, but you can quite easily entertain yourselves and your friends for half the normal price if you visit just a few discount sites. You can get the vouchers on your smart phone, and just flash that in a few places. It really is no effort to save a fortune on a day out.

Author Resource:- Discount sites like JungleDrum, among others, can save students a great deal of money on a day or night out. If you visit several sites on your smartphone, and show the student discount vouchers you get, it is possible to save all day.
